Ava DuVernay born August 24, 72 from Long Beach California. DuVernay was introduced to the arts from the aunt Denise. DuVernay was inspired by the summers she spent in Alabama to help inspire her film Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay was a graduate from Saint Joseph High School Lakewood California in 1990. DuVernay went to the University of California Los Angeles after graduating, where she earned degrees in English and African American Studies. DuVernay started producing broadcast journalism as an elementary school student. Her first job was as an assistant to CBS News in the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay was assigned to the look-out and search for the house of a particular Jury member. When she was dissatisfied with journalism by the tasks she was given, DuVernay decided to pursue a career in publicity. DuVernay was employed by a tiny studio as a Junior Publicist immediately after graduation. The company she founded for her own PR, The DuVernay Agency was created in 1999. The company launched a number of lifestyle and promotion networks, including Urban Beauty Collective and Urban Eye.
