Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was raised in Glen Ellyn (Illinois) and was a part of her early years living in Chicago. Amy lived in Glen Ellyn Illinois, right up to the time she graduated from junior college. Her family also lived in the Middle East, where her parents, Bob (and Barb) taught at American School. Amy is the mother of two sisters: Betsy and Lori, and a brother Joe. Amy has travelled all over Europe by herself as well as together with her family. Because her parents worked as teachers who taught, they could travel together every summer, and camping across the United States. They've camped in every US state, with the exception of Alaska. Amy traveled to Rwanda to assist in efforts to help after the war of 1994. Amy showed her artistic talents early through acting in school productions, and winning writing contests. High school was where she was a star athlete and was the first to participate in the ever 3200 meter relay race for girls in the Illinois track. After sustaining an injury, she was able to return to theater and play many roles that included Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and Wallace Shawn's film "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy went to Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, where she graduated with an B.A. East Asian history, with an emphasis on Theater. She relocated to Chicago following graduation and began studying Improv at the Improv Olympic and acting in the theater at The Actor's Center. Shortly after graduation, she was offered a permanent job on the now-defunct soap drama Another World (1964). In the category of "Outstanding supporting actress in a Daytime Drama Series", she has been nominated to Daytime Emmy Awards. Her most memorable roles were of strong women like Alex Taylor (1999), Maggie Pistone (2000), Katie Owen (2003), and Linda Reagan (2003). Carlson is currently living in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), and she is part-owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy continues to pursue unique and diverse roles in the world of film.
