Rashida Jones
Rashida Jones was born in Los Angeles,
California to Quincy Jones, a media producer and mogul, and Peggy Lipton,
Rashida is the younger sister of actress Peggy Lipton and Quincy Jones. Her
older sister is Kidada Jones, as well as five half-siblings by the other
relationships her father has with his children. Her father is African American
and her mother Ashkenazi Jewish (a descendant emigrants of Russia as well as
Latvia). Rashida was raised in Reform Judaism. She was raised in Bel Air Los
Angeles, California. Jones said that her mixed-race heritage was not recognized
by the public until the 1970s. Jones began her professional acting debut in The
Last Don, a mini-series that aired in 1997 based on the novel by Mario Puzo.
Rashida has also graduated from Harvard University in 1997. She attended the
Buckley School in Sherman Oaks (California). The school was voted the most
likely to succeed. Arabic (O+ O'UO-O(c) (her name) means "Major,"
adult, mature, wise or elder. The People magazine's "50 most beautiful people"

sang in a Tupac Shakur tribute song that was written by Kidada Jones, her
sister. Kidada and her brother Quincy Jones III composed the song. Quincy Jones
III, their father, was also featured at the beginning of the song, reciting
Shakur's lines "Starry Night". The poem is the inspiration for the
song's title. Rashida's father is African-American, has a less significant
amount of English, Scottish and Welsh roots (some ancestors of Rashida's
African family are from the Tikar people from Cameroon). Rashida's motheris
Ashkenazi Jewish (of Russian Jewish heritage and Latvian Jewish heritage), is
Rashida. Her maternal grandparents came from South Carolina and Mississippi.
Her maternal grandfather was born in New York, and her maternal grandmother was
born in Dublin, Ireland, of Eastern European Jewish origin. Since the end of
2009, has played three characters under the title "Karen" on the cult
classic comedy shows on TV (Freaks and Geeks (1999), Stella (2005) and The
Office (2005)).
