Rosamund Pike
Born in
London, England in 1979, Rosamund Mary Elizabeth Pike was the only child of
Caroline (Friend) (Friend), a classical violinist mom as well as Julian Pike,
an opera father of a singer. Due to their work, she spent her childhood touring
around Europe. Pike was born in Bristol and went to Badminton School. She then
began acting at National Youth Theatre. Pike was only 23 when she was cast in
"Romeo and Juliet" at the National Youth Theatre. She was then
spotted by an agent and was signed. Although her first film was a high-budget
action film, her work was mainly in smaller independent movies like Promised
Land (2004) and The Libertine (2004). The Libertine won her the Best Supporting
Actress Award at The British Independent Film Awards for this film. Pride
& Prejudice (2005) was her first film. A brief appearance in Hollywood
film was followed by the action-packed film Doom (2005) as well as the
suspenseful Fracture (2007) however, she made a return to smaller films featuring
outstanding performance in three films: An Education (2009) and Dagenham
(2010), and An Education. Dagenham (2010) and the lead role alongside Paul
Giamatti in Barney's Version (2010).As she continued her stage work in England,
Pike appeared in the spy spoof Johnny English Reborn (2011), and inhabited the
role of "Andromeda" in the sci-fi epic Wrath of the Titans (2012).
Pike returned to action-films as the lead actress alongside Tom Cruise in Jack
Reacher (2012).
