Watts was born 28 September 1968. Her film debut was in Australia in For Love
Alone (1986) which was followed by three television series: Hey Dad.. (1990),
Brides of Christ (911) and Home and Away (1991) and Flirting (1991). Watts
relocated to America in 2000. She initially struggled as an actress. In
actuality, she was only able to take small roles in films prior to becoming an
actress of the future in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive psychological thriller.
The role was the catalyst for her rise to fame internationally. Watts was later
chosen to play a journalist who was tortured in The Ring (2002). She was
nominated to the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as a
grieving mother in Alejandro film 21 Grams (2003). Her fame was growing when
she was featured in I Heart Huckabees (2004). King Kong (2006), Eastern
Promises ((2007)) and The International (2009). Watts was nominated for an
Academy Award as Best Actress for her role in The Impossible (2012). In the
decade of 2010, Watts played in films like Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014)
St. Vincent (2015), While We're Young (2016), The Glass Castle (2017) and Luce
(2018). Watts also continued to appear in blockbusters, and made appearances in
the Divergent franchise (2015-2016).
