Padma Lakshmi Bio
Padma Parvati Lakshmi (born September 1, 1970) was born in Chennai. Lakshmi was just two years old at the time her parents separated. Her mother moved to America in order to avoid the guilt of divorce in India. Lakshmi was a resident for two years with her maternal grandparents in Chennai prior to her move to the United States. Her parents divorced and Lakshmi has two younger siblings. Lakshmi, whose last name is the Hindu goddess of prosperity, wealth and success was born in New York. She then grew up with her mother and stepfather in Los Angeles. She would visit India for a few months every year to visit her relatives. Padma Lakshmi began to be interested in acting in 1999. She was in "Figlio di Sandokan" which was an Italian Pirate movie. Next, she starred in 'Caraibi' (Pirates Blood Brothers), an episode about 17th-century pirates.
